MANLY. In the late 1800s, Australia saw its first advertising slogan with Manly Beach's ad "Seven miles from Sydney and a Thousand Miles From Care." And given that Manly was Australia's first resort area, it has had plenty of time to create a carefree environment. It's also built up its restaurant and nightlife scene. There are now over 80 restaurants, several great pubs and an interesting art gallery. Manly is located on a peninsular surrounded by the Harbour, the ocean and Sydney Harbour National Park. In June, it hosts the Food and Wine festivals, and in October it's the site of the Manly Jazz Festival. FERRY: from Circular Quay ­ approximately 30 minute ride.
